Shutdown Day

Early last year, a computer programmer in Canada realised that he was spending way too much time in front of computers, and decided to spend one day with his family, away from computers.

So, he and a few friends issued a challenge on the Internet, asking people to stay away from the computer for 24 hours. 65,000 people from all over the globe responded to the challenge and shut down their computers on March 24 last year, creating the first Shutdown Day.

The second Shutdown Day is tomorrow, May 3, 2008. As of yesterday afternoon, 11,614 people have pledged to go without computers for a day on the event’s website.

A psychologist has warned that modern people are so “connected” these days, many run the risks of cyber addiction.

One of the reporters from My Paper tried to stay “unplugged” for a day, even switching off her gadgets and cell phone. She also tried to stay away from television for the day. She found the going tough – lapsing into her old routine a couple of times before catching herself – but not as unbearable as she initially thought.

Have you taken up the challenge?

Busy Week

Whew...finally a PH for rest. It's been a roller coaster week with lots of brain-storming and discussions / meetings. And yet today I'm not resting...my boss kept calling and had to work from home....it's frustrating! Let's keep the fingers crossed that tomorrow will not involve me in the battlefield of argument...
Anyway, I'm planning on vacation soon...MUST REST AND RELAX!!! I'm tired.............................

It's Friday Breakfast Meeting

TGIF!!! We had a breakfast meeting today and the breakfast is not half bad. Check out the portion...

The better part is the toast is REALLY yummy!!! I'm not a fan of bread but this one here is absolutely GOOD! I think it's multigrain bread and they toasted it to crisp. Even without the butter and jam, it's taste fine. Another thing is the ambience is pretty facinating. Check out the centre ceiling, it's an art...

Anyway, we had a great meeting and looking forward for more to come in a fairly comfortable environment like this one. We all kinda bored of the four-wall conference room. Let's get creative and hear some more interesting suggestion soon!
